一、lift 動詞。意思是“舉起、抬起、抱起”。強調物體的沉重，暗示舉起某物需要費些力氣。例如：

The box is too heavy for me to lift。 箱子太重我拿不起。

Help me to lift up the table。 幫我抬一下桌子。

She lifted the baby out of the carriage。 她從車裡抱出嬰兒。

二、raise 及物動詞。意思是“舉起、提起、提升、增加”。後面必須跟賓語。往往有使物體到達應有的高度的含義。例如：

He raised his head from the pillow。 他把頭從枕頭上抬起來。

We were forced to raise the price。 我們逼迫提價。

The soldiers raised a white flag。 士兵舉起了白旗。

三、rise 不及物動詞。意思是“上升、升起、（數量的）增加”。例如：

She rose from her seat to welcome him。 她從座位上起來迎接他。

The helicopter rose into the air。 直升機升上了天空。

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west。太陽從東方升起從西方落下。
