1。 You say why not in order to agree with what someone has suggested。表示同意或贊成,意思為好的,可以呀,為什麼不呢。
A:May I go with you? 我可以和你一起去嗎? B:Why not? 可以呀
A: Let’s eat out tonight? 今晚我們出去吃吧? B:Yes, why not? 那好呀
A: I wonder if I could make a living by writing。
我不知靠寫作能否維持生計
B:Why not? 那可以呀。
A:Want to spend the afternoon with me? 想和我一起度過這個下午嗎?
A:Why not? 為什麼不呢?
2。 You use why with “not” in question in order to introduce a suggestion。表示勸誘,建議或命令 …。怎麼樣;為什麼不…呢
Why not ask someone else? 問問別人怎麼樣?
Why not go there at once? 為什麼不馬上去呢?
