1。 You say why not in order to agree with what someone has suggested。表示同意或贊成，意思為好的，可以呀，為什麼不呢。

A：May I go with you？ 我可以和你一起去嗎？ B：Why not？ 可以呀

A： Let’s eat out tonight？ 今晚我們出去吃吧？ B：Yes， why not？ 那好呀

A： I wonder if I could make a living by writing。

我不知靠寫作能否維持生計

B：Why not？ 那可以呀。

A：Want to spend the afternoon with me？ 想和我一起度過這個下午嗎？

A：Why not？ 為什麼不呢？

2。 You use why with “not” in question in order to introduce a suggestion。表示勸誘，建議或命令 …。怎麼樣；為什麼不…呢

Why not ask someone else？ 問問別人怎麼樣？

Why not go there at once？ 為什麼不馬上去呢？

A： My girl-friend is in a bad mood。 我的女朋友情緒不好。

B：Why not give her some flower？ 為什麼不送她一些花呢？
