1. go overboard
來自於帆船運動，意思是：說更多的話或做更多的事，超過需要的尺度
例：
You can‘t believe everything Janice says about Rick。 She tends to go overboard when she’s complaining about him。
賈尼斯說的關於裡克的話不能全信。她總是抱怨過頭。
2. go to bat for someone
來自於棒球領域，意思是：為某人辯護或支援某人
例：
Andy is asking for a salary increase， and I‘m going to go to bat for him if the boss says no。
安迪要求漲工資，但如果老總不同意，我會幫他說說話的。
3. hit a snag
來自划船運動，意思是：遇到障礙
例：
The renovations were going along great until we hit a snag with the carpet installation。

4. the home stretch
出自賽馬運動領域，意思是：快結束了
例：

例：
“The boss expected her new Sales Director to carry the ball through Q3。 By Q4， the Sales Director had surpassed her boss‘s expectations， not dropping the ball once。”

透過欺騙取得成功
例：
“No one was fooled by the sales manager‘s presentation of Q1 success。 He had moved the goal posts to show a solid lead， when in fact he was behind the goals set the previous quarter。”
“沒人會被銷售經理所提報的第一季度的成功所戲弄，他偷樑換柱讓自己的業績看上去一直在領先地位，其實呢，上個季度的銷售額他就落後了。”
10. touchdown
觸地得分，獲勝
例：
“The outdoor launch event of our new product was an amazing touchdown for our marketing team。 The weather was perfect， a larger crowed attended than expected， social media revealed over 2 million impressions， and the new product sold out。”
“這次新產品的戶外上市釋出會真是太棒了，我們市場部團隊大獲全勝！天氣很完美，來的人也比預計的要多，社交媒體顯示我們獲得了2百萬的曝光，新品也隨之銷售一空。”
11. play quarterback
指揮反攻的四分衛；團隊裡的領軍人物
例：
“It’s always a risk to have a new employee play quarterback for the team， especially if he doesn‘t know the company’s procedures。 However， taking a risk can also be quite successful as new employees can bring new methods of doing things。”
“讓新員工來代領團隊總是有風險的，尤其是如果他還不怎麼知道公司流程的話。不過，成熟風險也可能換來特別成功的結果，因為新員工可以帶來新的解決方案。”
12. a flag on the field
舉旗喊停，因違反規則比賽暫停
例：
“We had to stop the new sales material from going to press because the boss threw a flag on the field。 He said that no one had approved the expenses for the project， so we have to meet before any decisions are made。”
“由於老闆喊停，我們必須暫停那些即將釋出的市場物料，他說沒人批了這個專案的預算，以後在做任何決定前都要碰頭溝通。”
13. to bench someone
讓某人坐冷板凳
例：
“Our boss benched the new sales manager for not getting his plan approved before sending the sales materials to press。 It‘s a good thing， because we discovered several mistakes that need correcting first。 He’ll be back on the team next week。”
“我們老闆因為沒批新銷售經理專案的事兒讓他回去坐冷板凳了，這是好事兒，因為我們發現了幾個錯誤需要修改。他下週就能回來了。”
14. a Hail Mary pass
最後一分鐘的努力但結果往往還是失敗
例：
“I have to decide to find more funding for the new product or to cancel it from production。 This week we will try a Hail Mary pass by auctioning the rest of the inventory in a WeChat group。 If the products don‘t sell， then we will discontinue it。 If we sell them all quickly， then maybe we can find more funding and ask R&D to improve the product’s quality。”
“對於新產品，我得決定是給它多找些投資呢還是從生產線上剔除。這周我們會透過一個微信群把目錄上剩下的都拍賣了。如果產品賣不出去，我們就終止；如果它們很快就賣出去了，那我們就去多找點融資然後讓產品研發部改善產品質量。”
15. Fourth down
一個最後得分的機會
例：
another agency to win the new client。 It‘s the fourth down today， and the company will make their decision。 It’s our last chance to show our creativity and ideas to help them succeed。”
“為了贏得新客戶，我們廣告公司正在和另一家公司比稿。今天是最後一戰了，公司會作出決定。這是我們最後一次展示我們創意的機會了”
16. Right off the bat:
首先，一開始（這個bat指的是棒球的球棒，baseball bat）
例：
They hit it off right off the bat； it’s love at first sight。
他們一見面就看對眼了，簡直是一見鍾情。
17. To hit a home run
本壘打，也就是指表現優秀、幹得好
例：
You were going to meet with a big client and you were really worried about it。 In the end， you hit home run/ you knocked it off the park。
你要和一個大客戶會晤，你非常擔心，但是最後你表現相當出色。
18. Armchair quarterback
坐搖椅的四分衛（四分衛（Quarterback）是得分手，負責得分的喲，球隊的靈魂人物）即指站著說話不腰疼的人。
例：
My father is a hopeless armchair quarterback。
我爸爸是一個沒救了的紙上談兵的人。
19. To go the whole nine yards
竭盡全力，一個類似的表達是to give it your all。（橄欖球、棒球比賽球場用“碼”做長度單位， 英制中丈量長度單位，1碼=3英尺）
（1） 表決心、表態度
I‘m going the whole nine yards on this project。 這個專案，我一定盡我所能！
（2）稱讚、誇獎別人：
Wow，you really went the whole nine yards with that one。 你這次真是拼盡全力啦。
20. To come out of left field
表現出人意料、黑馬姿態
例：
It came out of left field and snatched the victory。
這支球隊爆冷獲得勝利
21. A hole in one
一桿進洞。（源自高爾夫，一次就成功的意思）
例：
Bob sold the car to the lady on their first meeting； it’s a hole in one。
鮑勃第一次見客人就把車賣出去了，真是一桿進洞。
22. A knockout
顏值爆表，含義就是一個迷倒眾生的大美女。（這個說法源自拳擊，就是大家可能都聽過的KO， 被擊倒的意思；。注意，這個詞通常只用於形容女性）
例：
His girlfriend is a knockout。
他女朋友顏值爆表
